NOTICE OF NOMINATION and BY-ELECTION
For One Councillor Position
SWAN LAKE FIRST NATION MEMBERS

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the electors of the Swan Lake First Nation will be held at the Swan Lake Community Hall on Friday April 30th, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., for the purpose of nominating candidates for the position of one (1) Councillor of the Swan Lake First Nation for the remainder of this term of office. To be an elector, you must be 18 years of age or over and be a band member of the Swan Lake First Nation.

If you are a band member of the Swan Lake First Nation and you wish to participate in your First Nation's by-election, be advised that:

  1. The nomination meeting will be held on April 30th, 2010 at the Swan Lake Community Hall from 6:00 p.m, to 9;00 p.m, If there is no acclamation, the by-election will be held on June 11th, 2010 at the same location with the polls open from 9 a.m to 8 p.m.
  2. To confirm if you are on the voters list, contact the Swan Lake First Nation or the electoral officer.
  3. The voters list will be posted in at least one conspicuous place on the reserve.
  4. Both on and off-reserve electors are eligible to run, and nominate or second candidates for the vacant Councillor position. Nominations can be made in person at the nomination meeting or may be mailed to the electoral officer.
  5. All electors may vote by mail-in ballot, The electoral officer will send mail-in ballots to all off-reserve electors for whom addresses are known. On-reserve electors may request a mail-in ballot from the electoral officer.
  6. If an elector wishes to receive information from candidates, he or she must agree in writing to have his or her address released to the candidates.
  7. The by-election will fall under the provisions of the Indian Band Election Regulations,
